May 19

Conference dinner will be held from 19.00 to 23.00 at the Rocca al Mare Open Air Museum in an old village tavern. The Estonian Open Air Museum is located on a high sandstone bank on Kopli Bay, 15 minutes drive from the center of Tallinn. With 12 farmsteads, as well as its own church, tavern and schoolhouse, several mills, a fire station, fishing net sheds and village swing, it provides a good overview of rural life in Estonia in different periods. The dinner will be held at Kolu inn, built in the mid-19th century by Tartu-Tallinn Road. In the museum it is located at the crossing where all roads from the “villages” of the open-air museum meet.

The bus will pick up the participants in front of hotel Nordic at 18.30 and will start back at 23.00. Before dinner, you’ll have a possibility to walk around a bit. Comfortable shoes and not overly informal attire is best. You’ll have a taste of traditional Estonian cuisine and get a glimpse of Estonian folk culture.

May 20

In the afternoon there will be a IABA Europe business meeting. Everyone is welcome to attend! The conference will end with a roundtable discussion at about 18.00.

May 21

After the conference, there will be a trip to Tartu (from about 9.00 - 20.00). We will visit the Archives of Cultural History at the Estonian Literary Museum, go out on the River Emajõgi on an old barge, and have lunch together. You'll also have some time to look around in Tartu on your own. For the excursion there will be a separate fee. The full programme can only take place if there are at least 25 participants. If you are less, we may have to make some adjustments to the programme (e.g., we may not be able to include lunch).  Fee Eur 45.
